GKK Multi-Media Library

The multi-media library, Mediothek GKK (for Design, Fine Arts, Conservation and Restoration, Y Institute for Transdisciplinarity) is open to internal and external users.

It belongs to the network of libraries in German-speaking Switzerland, Informationsverbund Deutschschweiz (IDS), and provides access to more than 7 million titles in over 300 libraries.

Borrowing

The sole condition for borrowing media is having a personal user’s card from the Informationsverbund Deutschschweiz (IDS).

A user’s card can be obtained from us for a one-off charge of CHF 22. Borrowing is free. There is no online ordering and interlibrary loans cannot be made. Loan periods are limited to 28 days for books. If the books are not reserved, they may be renewed twice, for a month each time (online via the user’s account, by e-mail, or at the library).

Films may be borrowed for 2 weeks, and cannot be renewed.

Basic Literature Design and Art

After the loan period has expired, a reminder will be sent by e-mail. Media returned more than 5 working days late will incur a fine.

1st overdue notice: CHF 10 per item

2nd overdue notice: after a further 5 working days, CHF 20 per item

3rd overdue notice: after a further 5 working days, CHF 35 per item

Fines must be paid on-site.
