Intermediality

In the research area Intermediality processes of translation between various media and between scientific and artistic forms of representation are explored and tested.

The focus is on exploring how different media also generate different kinds of knowledge. This idea is further developed and differentiated in the research field "Art as Research", where an ongoing discussion about terminology and methodology takes place. The practical comparability of artistic and scientific research is examined on the basis of concrete artistic projects in the research field "Intermedial Arts". The research field "Auditory Cultures" is a special case. It explores the sonification of data derived from the natural sciences. The research field "Art Education" is situated on the intersection of research related to teaching and research related to practicing the profession. It explores methodology and theory as well as pedagogy and didactics.
