Music

Music is the biggest division at the Bern University of the Arts. The degree programmes are divided into Classical Music, Jazz, Music and Media Art, Music and Eurythmics, Composition and also a wide range of theoretical subjects. The Music Division has excellent infrastructure: a library, studios, a great selection of instruments etc.

The teaching covers all the various activities required of up-and-coming musicians: interpretation, composition, improvisation and teaching music.

The focus is on developing the individual’s ability to express themselves – whether this be through performing, teaching or composing. The consistent networking among the various degree programmes within the Music Division and also within the BUA as a whole, with art, theatre and opera, ensures that BUA music students are prepared for the current requirements in their professional field. Their studies promote skills such as flexibility, the ability to do project-based work, taking initiative and openness.
