MA Composition and Theory
The Master’s degree in Composition and Theory offers access to composition through various media and techniques. Composition is understood as ranging from traditional notation on paper, to the setting in sound of visual material, the digital synthesis of sounds or the staging of musical productions.
The objective of the course of study is to train composers so that they have an overview of all the processes of musical creation in their own musical projects, and are able to reflect on and communicate them.
The BUA offers the following specialisations:

Perspectives
A composer today must be in a position to produce music quickly and openly and be able to adapt to different events and the requirements of a diverse audience. The professional field is correspondingly broad. In addition to classical composition for instruments, ensembles and orchestra, theatre, film and other media also play an important role. Depending on the specialisation, activities range from writing musical/scenic works for various spaces (theatres, museums, other stages), to commissions for festivals and broadcasters, orchestration and arrangement in various fields and work in media contexts (music for radio plays, contributions for the advertising industry, composition for television or theatre).
