  • Peter Thomas Gromer (*1978 Stuttgart, Germany) studied Jazz Piano&Improvisation and Eartraining, Theory and Composition (as a second major, with Frank Sikora) at University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart. From 2004 to 2008 he received a full scholarship from the ’German Academic Foundation’ and from Berklee College of Music, so he went on to study Film Scoring at Berklee College of Music in Boston and after that at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, graduating in 2009. Meanwhile, in 2003 he was semi-finalist at ‘Int. Jazz Piano Solo Competition Montreux Switzerland, Grand-Prize Winner at the Int. Jazz Competition Bucharest in 2008 and in the following year his orchestral score for ‘Urs’ was shortlisted 6th Nominee for an Academy Award® for 'Best Animated Short 2009’.

    Since then he has composed music for over a hundred television productions, feature films, commercials and animated shorts and his music has been heard at numerous film festivals around the world. In 2016 and 2019 he was nominated for the ‘German Film Score Award in the categories ‘Best Score’ and ‘Best Song’.
    Constantly working with cutting edge music technology, pushing forward what can be done with computers and music programming, in 2019 he co-founded a music tech startup company called ’Nextmidi’.
