Titles and Recognition

Federally recognised qualifications:

 

Bachelor of Arts

Bachelor courses lead to a federally recognised and protected Bachelor of Arts (BA) qualification.

 

The Bachelor’s degree is a university qualification and entitles its holder to entrance to corresponding further studies at universities of applied sciences, universities, the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology, and to colleges of teacher education. It also allows access to corresponding courses abroad. The admitting institution sets the admission conditions.

 

Master of Arts

The consecutive Master courses lead to a federally recognised and protected Master of Arts (MA) qualification.

 

The Master's degree is a university qualification. It corresponds to the second level in the Bologna system and generally follows the bachelor courses. The Master's degree entitles its holder to entrance to corresponding further studies on PhD level. The admitting institution sets the admission conditions.

 

Master of Advanced Studies

Further education Master courses with 60 ECTS-Credits lead to the federally recognised title Master of Advanced Studies (MAS). The Conference of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences is publishing a list of the licensed and federally recognised MAS courses.

Certificate/Diploma of Advanced Studies

The degrees Certificate of Advanced Studies CAS and Diploma of Advanced Studies DAS are awarded for shorter further education programmes. These degrees are not federally regulated. Structure and duration of these further educations depend on the recommendations of the Conference of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences (at least 10 ECTS for a CAS, al least 30 ECTS for a DAS).
