Prerequisites and Conditions for Admission

Prerequisites

The Master’s degree programme in Music Pedagogy requires advanced artistic skills in general musical and artistic/aesthetic areas. Prospective students must be capable of orientation in various musical contexts and should also look for these. Advanced instrumental/vocal or technical and creative abilities are required in their core discipline. Skills in reflection, theoretical justification and in the articulation of ideas are also expected, along with a high level of personal responsibility and independence. An additional requirement is the ability to engage in a transdisciplinary artistic environment and to contribute to transdisciplinary projects. There must be evidence of a suitability for teaching.

 

Conditions for Admission
To participate in the aptitude test, applicants need to have a Bachelor`s degree in Music with the Master stream Music Pegagogy, a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Movement, a Bachelor of Arts in Music Science or an equivalent education. If an applicant passes the aptitude test, but has not completed the Master stream, the Head of Studies may demand further qualifications.

Language skills
Understanding German or French is a condition for the Master studies in Music Pedagogy. Prospective students with other mother tongues have to take a language test at the beginning of the studies.

The required level is B2, according to the European standards GERS/CEFR of the European Council (level C1 is preferable). If you submit a certificate from a recognised language school, stating this level, with your application, you do not have to take the test.
