As a dual artistic and pedagogic degree, the MA in Music Pedagogy emphasises the transfer of artistic research to pedagogy. The degree collaborates in the music pedagogical field with the University of Bern, the Pädagogische Hochschule Bern and other Swiss conservatories. The Master’s degree programme in Music Pedagogy is also closely linked to the BUA research areas of Interpretation Research and Intermediality. These feed back into musical practice. In the research field “Historically informed performance practice of the 19th century”, students, teaching staff and researchers work closely together. In terms of new issues in notation, documentation and interpretation in contemporary arts and in other areas, students can participate directly in BUA research projects. The Master’s degree programme gives students the chance to choose a Minor in research and to specialise in this area.
