Educational Objectives

The key objective of the Master’s degree programme in Music Performance is for students to achieve a high level of artistic maturity as performing musicians. This requires extended musical abilities just as much as an individually interesting profile, diversity of repertoire and conscious specialisation. The degree programme aims to foster musical authenticity and confidence on stage by providing students with far-ranging experiences of making music and collaborating with other media.

The Jazz degree programme teaches additional techniques and forms of improvisation as well as knowledge of their stylistic characteristics. Different musical contexts are recognised and thus extend the graduates’ field of activity. The development of personal responsibility and organisational skills are another educational objective.

Today’s market, which is constantly changing, and today’s diversity of styles, require graduates – whether of Jazz or Classical music – to be agile, open, curious, socially skilled, and pragmatically and emotionally intelligent.
