MA Music Pedagogy

MA Music Pedagogy The Master’s degree programme in Music Pedagogy is a joint degree in arts and pedagogy with a broad stylistic range that qualifies graduates to teach music. It combines artistic expression, reflection and technical skills with the pedagogy skills of teaching. The aim of the study programme is to train students to become responsible music teachers.


The MA in Music Pedagogy is offered at the BUA in two Majors, each focusing on a different area of music education.


Music Pedagogy Classical, Jazz, Music and Movement / Rhythmics

The instrument / voice serves as a basis, that is the connection between movement and music. This Master’s degree qualifies graduates to teach either instrumental or vocal music in schools i.e. teaching integrative music and movement at all age levels.


Music SII

The main focus is on the connection between the theory and educational practice. This Master’s degree leads, together with the educational-pedagogical studies at the Bern University of Teacher Education, to a teaching qualification up to secondary school at Matura level.
