  • Markus stands for digital transparency and openness as the basis for sustainable innovation. He holds a Diplom (German degree) in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences in Braunschweig and was born in 1985. As a senior open source practitioner and lecturer at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) in the Digital Sustainability Lab, he advises companies and public institutions on digital sovereignty and sustainability.

    In addition, he has been involved in Switzerland for many years on the board of CH Open - the association for the promotion of open source software and open standards in Switzerland, as a jury member of the Digital Economy Awards and on the organizing committees of DINAcon - the conference for digital sustainability and the Swiss Workshop Days. His focus is on making open source and digital sustainability visible and usable in everyday life for business, administration and civil society.

    Characterized by many years of experience in software development and release engineering, including as a committer for the Eclipse Foundation and package maintainer for “Eclipse for Testers”, he stands for high quality standards and collaborative processes.
