Situation
The Executive Council of the Canton of Bern has identified the digitalisation projects to be launched and prioritised. Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of them. The Canton of Bern regards AI as a key enabling technology and a vital driver of digital transformation; it therefore intends to examine and harness the potential of AI in a targeted manner for the benefit of the population, the economy and the administration. At the end of August 2024, the AI working group began its work – in a cross-departmental and interdisciplinary manner. This is a temporary working group under the authority of the Digital Administration specialist group. It currently comprises 27 experts from all departments, the State Chancellery, the Department of Justice, the Data Protection Supervisory Authority, the Parliamentary Services and Bedag. It is supported by the BFH.
