  • Maria is a PhD candidate at Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) and the University of Lucerne in Switzerland. She holds degrees in Economics and Investigative Journalism from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and a Master’s in World Society and Global Governance from the University of Lucerne.

    Her research examines international investment practices of Chinese and US multinational enterprises, focusing on social and environmental standards.

    Before beginning her doctoral studies, she worked in the Swiss impact startup sector and at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce. She has also gained experience in European policy contexts through traineeships at the European Commission and the Swedish Embassy.

    Her academic and professional background reflects a strong interest in interdisciplinary approaches and integrating diverse perspectives to advance sustainable development.
