Situation
This project supports the climate proofing of rural development projects that are planned and implemented by Caritas. The aim is to ensure that each project a) adapts their activities to account for future climate change impacts and b) helps mitigate climate change while ensuring that there are no negative effects on the environment.
Course of action
BFH-HAFL has majorly contributed to the development of a climate proofing methodology with a strong participatory component. Climate proofing involves several steps from screening to a detailed assessment and recommendations for action. In this follow-up project, BFH-HAFL provides on-demand methodological support and technical expertise to Caritas for climate proofing their projects related to forests, agriculture, and other land uses. So far, we have worked on projects in Mali, Kosovo and Haiti.
