Situation
The Office for the Environment and Energy (AUE) has energy demand data for residential and commercial properties in the canton of Bern, which has been calculated using a standardised method and is based on current key figures. This energy demand data is made available to third parties for the creation of energy master plans and heat registers. The previous survey methodology is to be replaced by a new methodology that allows for more automated and frequent data collection and improves the basis for the data.
Course of action
The new methodology for assessing energy requirements continues to be based on the energy demand approach. One of the most significant changes is the use of synergies with climate metrics (see above), which provides a more accurate picture of the requirements of businesses in the canton of Bern and specific buildings. The documentation of the new methodology serves as the technical basis for the implementation of the tool-supported survey by the Bern University of Applied Sciences. The resulting data models are intended to provide specific information on buildings for residential and commercial use.
