Über die Arbeit sprechen Christoph Oertli

Christoph Oertli is an artist based in Basel. Through video art, Oertli investigates urban landscapes, people and their living spaces. He is interested in the use of bodies in highly developed societies. The individuals featured in his videos are people he has met during his trips and stays abroad. Those portrayed narrate their own stories with the utmost directness.

Oertli’s work has been shown at international festivals and exhibition venues. He is the laureate of several residencies such as IAAB Montréal (1998), IAAB Cité international des arts, Paris (2002), Prohelvetia residency Cairo (2006). Oertli has won numerous awards including the Basel Media Art Prize 2020 for the video “Sensing Bodies”. Since 2004, he’s a guest lecturer at Luzern University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).
