Über die Arbeit sprechen Joseph K. Kasau Wa Mambwe
Born in 1995 in the Democratic Republic of Congo in Lubumbashi, Joseph K. Kasau Wa Mambwe is an artist who addresses the complexity of memory and identity in a post-colonial urban context.
27.11.2023, 4pm–6pm – Hochschule der Künste, Auditorium, Fellerstrasse 11, 3027 Bern
Joseph K. Kasau Wa Mambwe’s practice has been built around the desire to tell stories, whether his own or those of the communities in which he grew up and still lives. At the intersection of photography, video art and creative writing, his productions are very attentive to social interactions, highlighting power relations and proposing alternatives for change and gathering.
Joseph K. Kasau Wa Mambwe holds a degree in Information and Communication Sciences with a specialization in Performing Arts from the University of Lubumbashi. In 2020, he co-founded the support platform for research, education and creation Nidjekonnexion, and launched the Onesha Lubumbashi project in 2021 as an opportunity to create alternative narratives about the different cities of Congo. He is one of the 2023 residents at La Becque/Artist Residency in association with Pro Helvetia – Swiss Arts Council.
The lecture will be held in English.
