Interview: Three questions for Fabian Meinen
Why are you studying opera?
As a boy soprano, at the age of 11 I was allowed to sing the shepherd boy in Puccini's opera Tosca at the Stadttheater Bern, which was an incredibly impressive and fascinating experience for me. Already enthusiastic about classical music and opera at that time, I was completely taken in by this world. That's when it was clear to me: I'm going to be an opera singer!
What was your first encounter with opera?
My first opera was The Magic Flute at the Festival d'Opera d'Avenches
Which is your favourite opera and why?
I don't think I have a favourite opera. However, if I could only listen to one opera for the rest of my life, it would probably be La Boheme by Puccini. The unbelievable melodies and the incredibly touching story fascinate me again and again.
