Interview: Three questions to Ian Sherwood
Why are you studying opera?
I chose to pursue opera because I found it to be the most challenging form of artistic expression. It is extremely satisfying when I feel that I successfully open myself up to this form of expression on and off the stage.
What was your first encounter with opera?
My first experience with opera was when I was 17 years old singing in the chorus of ‘Die Zauberflöte’. It was super boring and it didn’t bring me much joy.
Which is your favourite opera and why?
At the moment, my favorite opera is ‘The Rakes Progress’. Its full of interesting and beautiful music, and it’s a role that I hope to sing one day.
