Flashlight
Léandre Joerin.
This project is about misunderstanding. We live in a time when every political act provokes increasingly strong reactions, with everyone trying to understand what is going on as best they can. Despite these social networks, which o>er us the possibility of communicating and sharing our opinions with anyone, anywhere in the world, and which should encourage us to question and debate our opinions, we often end up staying with like-minded people, agreeing entirely or being categorically opposed to the content we see. Bubbles form, bubbles in which the same opinions are repeated over and over again, and these di>erent bubbles very rarely meet and confront each other. This audio project highlights a movement of incomprehension in the face of blurred events, in the face of a character who speaks without anyone understanding him and who dazzles the others with his flashlight. Di>erent voices intersect to say the same thing, to repeat the same observations with growing tension. Each voice becomes more and more annoyed, and we seem to be approaching the moment when it will no longer be bearable. Is there a way out of this desolate confrontation? Can we hope that this flashlight might reveal something in this fog?
